Drones turning criminals into paste in front of the 7-11? In front of the family stopping off for a cold drink? Nah, not them either really.

"Danny, that was a bad guy exploding in front of you so it is okay and all American - now let's go get a soda!"

equate to unequivocal support for Snowden, Greenwald, or even Weyden, Udall and the Guardian.

And it certainly does not equate to support of any degree at all, for Rand Paul (or Daddy Ron).

I, for one am really tired of thinly veiled efforts to conflate these and I know damned well, that I am not alone.

We are supposed to be better than that. I disagree with the surveillance culture, but don't worship Snowden. I think we should stop meddling in the rest of the world, but I am not a Paulbot.

Just like suspicion towards Greenwald and Snowden's motives does not equate support for a surveillance state either. I guess we can agree on that.

"Maybe you should have picked different issues?"

No, that issue is ideal. Did you watch the clip and hear his views on foreign aid and Iraeli settlements?

I mean, fans like to claim Rand and his father are anti-war.

The drone thing is classic.

If so, you're opposing the President. If not, you agree with the Pauls, and are by your own logic a Paul "fan". You really do like painting yourself into corners don't you?

which he is not. But some people like to push that meme here. And you'd better believe it that if Israel were attacked and Rand Paul were president he'd have NSA running at full capacity and then some.

People who don't understand that are simply way out of their depth on this topic. Most don't even know who the main players are and what the best and worst outcomes are for them.

And that's why ProSense posted Rand Paul's words. He's NOT anti-war, as some like to say here on DU.

because that one didn't say anything about Rand Paul being anti-war. It talked about "Ron Paul types"--that is, populist libertarians who sometimes, embarrassingly, have better stances on issues than Dem leadership does.

And no, Rand Paul isn't anti-war. He's pro-drone. Just like Obama.

The entire kerfuffle has been about people not wanting to be associated with Rand Paul. I'd say it was trying to be a bit too clever by half, using the phrase Ron Paul types instead of what was meant - Libertarians, period.

Well, Libertarians are NOT liberals. Not by any stretch of the imagination. I don't care what adjective you throw in front of the word. Populist? That's just a silly attempt to distract and deflect. Libertarians are RW.
