The GOP suicide pact continues:

Last edited Sun Aug 18, 2013, 10:50 AM - Edit history (1)

The reason I posted this was adding Telemundo and CNN Espanol. They know that without Hispanic-Americans and other minorities they are doomed as a party. Maybe they don't won't to expose them to their idiocy. However, just by excluding them no matter what the reason, it appears to be another snub.

RNC's NBC, CNN boycott will extend to Telemundo, CNN Espanol

In a highly anticipated move, the Republican National Committee voted unanimously on Friday to deny NBC and CNN the rights to host or sponsor a Republican primary debate unless those two networks cancel their respective Hillary Clinton film projects.

"CNN and NBC anchors will just have to watch on their competitors’ networks," RNC chairman Reince Priebus told the committee members in Boston.

While NBC and CNN's competitors stand to benefit from the RNC's decision, there's another potential winner who has gone unmentioned: Univision.

On Friday, RNC communications director Sean Spicer told POLITICO that the boycott would extend to NBC and CNN's Spanish-language channels: Telemundo and CNN Español.

"My understanding is that they both would be excluded," Spicer wrote in an email.

They get to the "Greeted as liberators" phase and stop dead.

This is so obviously going to be a disaster, it seems unbelievable that they would even consider this.

It would not surprise me if other main stream media networks decided to not allow this blackmail and decided to boycott the (R) primary debates in order to prevent themselves from being subject to the same extortion in the future. If that were to happen then the (R)s would be limited to FOX and FOX alone.

Not that this threat is real. I assume it is just an elaborate bluff to play to their base. It will also give them something to complain about, and to pretend to be the victims of, later in the process.

Or make it sound like the 2 networks conceded on some other point to gain back the right to air the primaries.

And 'conservatives don't comprehend backlash' is so true and they demonstrate it to us time and time again. That's what makes Repub watching such an entertaining pastime!

The desire to "Handle the moderators" is clearly an attempt to reduce the number of embarrassing moments which constantly damage their brand.

But it won't work, in fact I think it would backfire. There will be debates for the General election and anyone who didn't get properly warmed up in the primaries isn't going to be ready for the main event.

The 2012 debates went horrible for republicans, I wonder if they are simply trying to minimize the damage that the candidates will cause by simply expressing their backward ideas and this is all a distraction from the fact they don't want independents seeing their candidates and would rather PAC money ads to influence that voting block.

Some person of organization that can't be controlled will show up at that party's debate with a mic or camera. The information will get out and be played endlessly on the Web and television. The exposure will reinforce voters perception of the republican party and will prove to be the continuation of the march to end for that party.

That was my reaction. In the primaries, they had to pander to the most extreme lunatics and it wasn't pretty at all. The GOP would do better to get through to the convention with as little notice as possible, throw up the usual Empty Suit, and hope to replay 2000.

Modern communication technology will make that party's efforts futile. Images of the hateful signs and tee shirts the party's followers have will hit the Web and be seen in tens of millions of eyes. Hateful statements that party's supporters make will be captured by a cell phone and be posted on the Web for tens of millions to see and hear.

But republicans WILL be fact checked and the fact checking will come before many more eyes and ears than they get on the closed channels that candidates debate before. The problem that republicans have is that their message is out of step with the majority of voters in the country and there is nothing that party can do about that situation. The republican party should and WILL vanish, or become an insignificant minority party.

party has it's southern strategy and other race based strategies to thank for it's coming demise. That party enabled and used a base of voters who one time were significant, but who are dying off and aren't being replaced in large numbers. The republican party is trapped in a echo chamber where the only voters that it can count on to vote it's way are demanding, red faced, that no one else get a say.

I don't know if the Republicans can break out of the downward spiral within the next few decades.

Fortunately for the financial moguls, they are hermit crabs that have found an empty shell of another party to crawl in to. They will abandon ship, appease their new followers with gun control legislation, and attempt to disarm the politically obsolete zombie army they have created. At that time, they will become our unchallengeable overlords.

...besides this being a publicity stunt to rev up the base and shake some much needed dollars from the gullible, this is a major diversion to focus attention away from the growing rifts within that corrupt and inept party. Rheinhold wants to avoid the embarassing clown car demolition derby in 2016 by limiting the number of "debates"...or more like opportunities for the rushpublicans to embarass themselves.

By bullying the networks Rheinold hopes to perpetuate the "librul media" meme. The truth is this is yet more hallow bullshit from this carnival barker. The RNC has never sponsored any debates. Be assured if the networks offer free national airtime...especially if they're aired on network affiliates in target primary states, the clowns will be there in full dress ready to answer questions from Steven Colbert...

in another universe, what that party's candidates say on stage will get out as video and words. To make matters worse, that party is looking at people like Hannity and Limbaugh as moderators. The type of debate crowd that Hannity and Limbaugh would draw to the debate hall will sink any eventual republican nominee by their conduct toward questions and answers during debates. Candidates on stage will play to the people in the audience.

Several things you need to think about. First, very few of the core Republican voters will watch anything but Faux news. So excluding CNN doesn't hurt them with their base, if anything it helps them by punishing those "damned liberals" who don't keep up the drumbeat of the RW CT crowd. The Party looks like it is standing up and fighting against the Liberals, and the image of your party fighting for you, even if it is symbolic, works to keep your supporters strong. Look at the Democratic Party to see how many of us are disgusted about the NSA/Civil Rights issue for proof of that.

The NBC thing is irrelevant. Because with the other two broadcast networks, CBS, and ABC able to host, that will still make it available to the populace, while again giving the image that the GOP is fighting for the RW even if only symbolic.

Remember how many of us were happy that President Obama was going to take another look at the NSA, it looked for the weekend anyway, that he was finally going to consider Civil Rights. How many of us were happy? How many of us cheered when they slapped down Faux news? It was symbolic, it didn't accomplish anything but we felt like they were fighting for our beliefs.

So this isn't as dumb as you might think. The RW will play it off as the party is finally fighting back against the bias, FAUX news stands to win, ABC, and CBS stand to win, and it is entirely possible that NBC will drop the Clinton project that the Republicans find so objectionable. Let's be honest, if you can't interview anyone, your ability to report the news is severely diminished.

One of them will drop it, either CNN or NBC. If they do, then the GOP wins a symbolic battle against the left wing.

Think it through, not just how we see it, but how the RW and the rest of the people will see it.

Univision is the biggest, and has the widest viewership. Also Univision ran an expose on Fast and Furious, which the RW CT gang loves.

Think it through my friend. Remember the history, and where these names came up before. Because here be the secret, the RW is figuring out how to manipulate the message better. By going with Univision, they open the door to the CT gang on the Spanish Language side, and if they get smart, read the polling, and come out in favor of shutting down the NSA spying, and worse they get there FIRST, we're stuck out in the right, while they rush left, with claims of vast conspiracies on our side.

WE Democrats won't believe most of them, some perhaps, but not a vast majority. The question is will the majority of the voters? Do you really want to run on the platform of Pro NSA spying against the Republicans if they are running against it?
