So he admits that he's no longer a conservative now. Of course, principles mean nothing to these people. Republican has been a negative for a long time, hence the "tea party", but now, even "conservative" is something the heir apparent to the Bush dynasty is running away from.
By the way, I'm referring to the quote from Jeb Bush today denouncing the clown car crew. I don't have a link, but I've seen the text posted several times on MSNBC.

(21,925 posts)but in 2008, the Bush name was never mentioned at the Republican National Convention and Bush wasn't asked to appear, which is a remarkable thing regarding a former outgoing President. And in 2012, it's even worse. The Bush name has been conspicuously unmentioned in the GOP debates. Rick Santorum was a Senator who helped Bush pass a lot of legislation and he's running away from the Bush name and any achievements in the name of Bush as though it were the Black Death. No one is using Bush to any extent whatsoever as an example of a solid agenda by any of the candidates. The Tea Party in general does not like Bush.

(50,555 posts)The people who are calling themselves "solid conservatives" today are so far to the right of Benito Mussolini, people who used to be the very model of the modern conservative like Jeb Bush and Ronald Reagan are now center-right moderates.
