Rand Paul: No ‘objective evidence’ African Americans are prevented from voting

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Wednesday that there is no “objective evidence” that African-American
voters are being disenfranchised in modern elections.

According to a tweet from Phillip M. Bailey of the Louisville-based NPR affiliate, WFPL-FM, Paul said
the following:

Correction. @SenRandPaul quote: "I don't think there is objective evidence that we're precluding
African-Americans from voting any longer."

snip

Republican-controlled state legislatures across the country have been passing new Voter ID laws and other
measures, including a recent North Carolina bill that cuts back on early voting days. And the Supreme
Court recently struck down a key part of the Voting Rights Act that gave the Justice Department the authority
to approve or halt such changes in areas with a history of voter suppression.

Of course not. Any evidence that it's happening isn't "objective", it's "biased". hughee99 Aug 2013 #5

Of course, I didn't see any "objective" evidence that people who were ineligible to vote and were voting anyway was having any impact in elections either.

Lots of so-called liberals in the greater world (not DU - so don't anyone take it personally unless you are actually a Repugnant one) - agree with him.

As one of our members started a thread a few weeks ago . . . No wonder the tide is turning against us.

waits of 12 hours? Moving polling places miles from where people live? Those two things are enough to convince me.
