Lawrence does a long segment on Teslas and the next two commercials are for a crummy Korean car... (Original Post) onehandle Aug 2013 OP

A Tesla can cost less than an Infinity, and a LOT less than an SSC. NYC_SKP Aug 2013 #11
Your point? flvegan Aug 2013 #14
Yeah, but we can probably afford the crummy Korean one. n/t cherokeeprogressive Aug 2013 #9
Pretty amazing for it to get THE top safety rating. DirkGently Aug 2013 #10

We need more entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, and more companies like his Solar City, Tesla Motors, and SpaceX.

Ads are more about the subliminal than what's on the surface.

NO ONE starts a car company from scratch. Not in this country. Tucker anyone? DeLorean? I think Musk got by because everyone assumed it was simply impossible to mass produce a useful, desirable, beautiful electric car.

No one in America tries to make money inventing things anymore. It's too hard. The big money's in speculation, sucking carbon-based fuel out of the ground, and consolidation.

It's an inspiration, and a rare one these days.

You didn't really just play the overpriced card in regards to an Infiniti in a Tesla thread, did you? Which Infiniti?

And which Hyundai?

Hopefully that will change.

Which Hyundai? Dunno. They all look the same to me.

To their credit, Tesla started off with an exotic proof of concept roadster, then moved toward more and more affordability.

They're smart that way, I like that.

Since you dropped in...

For the record, an Infiniti (Nissan) can cost a LOT less than a Tesla too (since we're just being stupid now, but applause at Googling SSC). LOL

"Tesla has thrown down the challenge to the industry as a whole. We are a new company and we beat everybody," Ditlow said. "All the other automakers need to accept Tesla’s challenge and do as well or better as Tesla in NHTSA’s crash test ratings."

Not something you see those half-assed plastic "super cars" pulling off.

You understand the commercial spots go to those who bought them, yes?

Do you know how television works, as in how everyone gets paid?

Although I have to say I like a lot of what Hyundai's doing lately. Not as much of a Nissan fan lately.
