Trying to put what I'm reading on various threads for a while on DU all together. I'm getting the feeling that being a Democrat means that we don't disagree with what is going on under the current leadership. I like Obama, but I no longer believe that he has any power.
Are people afraid that if they disagree "The Authoritarians" will come out to get them? Are we facing the day when children will rat on their parents ? Will mankind never rise above the level of beasts?
I'm old. I've lived a long time, but I can't accept the fact that the little ones will inherit the fruits of our impotence.
I don't know what to do for them.

(4,868 posts)The status-quo in both parties has gotten use to a sytem without checks and balances. To many politicians and intelligence professionals have gotten too comfortable with the liberties that they're granted as long as we're "safe". The status-quo will always have defenders, its usually just people who are scared of everything and want a safety blanket, the NSA is a safety blanket for them.
