Life and Death served up
Got a call from family that my Dad was in the hospital and seemed to be fading. Flew back to the East Coast to see him. Seemed like the end that first day I saw him on Friday, a week ago, but by Monday when he had surgery, everything had turned around 180 degrees. He isn't completely out of the woods, but he has a chance. He's 80 with health issues, so he's probably already beating the odds.
Stress of it has given me three weeks of burning chest pain. Saw my Chiro and my MD. Both thought it's either my UC or GERD flaring. Chiro gave me some relaxation ideas and techniques. MD ordered CBC and other blood tests. All the numbers were better from the tests in January. Said keep doing what I'm doing, but biking to work and club bike rides are the only thing I've been doing.
Yesterday, the director of our state agency sent an Email about a coworker who died in her sleep Friday. Didn't know her well, but I recently took a couple of classes from her. Really liked her. Smart woman. Felt like, "Wow, if she's leading up Process Improvement, then we're on the right track." We even traded a couple of Emails about Process Improvement, and she appreciated my ideas. Apparently she was active and fit in her life.
Each day is a gift.
