[link:http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/356237/cruz-calls-why-dont-we-impeach-obama-good-question-katrina-trinko}National Review]:
In a question and answer session following a speech he gave at a Montgomery County GOP dinner last night, an audience member asked Cruz, Why dont we impeach him [Obama]?
Its a good question, Cruz responded, and Ill tell you the simplest answer: To successfully impeach a president you need the votes in the U.S. senate.
I'm wondering if Cruz is actually talking himself into the lower tier of Presidential candidates...

(51,076 posts)he is not a natural born American and can't be President even if he wanted.
Course that is if the SC doesn't change that part of the law that is
Course I don't doubt that they, SC, would if they thought they could get by with it.
Course Ted Cruz is an idiot but I already said that

(14,732 posts)US citizenship is by virtue of having been born to a U.S. parent overseas. He is therefore a 'natural born citizen'. That tired old birther stuff really doesn't deserve to get any notice now, particularly on DU.

(14,732 posts)birthers and crazies. And, whether you 'buy it' or not that's the state of the law. If you can point me to ANY case where courts have held a person born to a US citizen abroad and who properly registered the birth with a US Consulate was held to not be a 'natural born citizen' I'd love to see it.

(25,406 posts)should that child be eligible to be president? Most scholars say yes, since the child was an American from the moment of birth. You appear to be arguing that this would not be the case.

(47,953 posts)It would be over "Benghazi" or more likely having the temerity to pass a health care reform. Or maybe they would just go full crazy and impeach him for being a "kenyan".
It most certainly won't be for 4th amendment violations.

(31,706 posts)...I'll bet he rarely has contact with anyone from the reality-based world. He probably listens to hate radio to get the "pulse" of his suckers...err...constituents and then plays them like a violin. And he's laughing all the way to the bank...getting lots of $$$ for his PAC and making a good buck on "speaking" fees, too. I wouldn't be surprised if this con man comes out with a book soon...milk 'em while you got 'em.
I'm sure his ego is telling him he not only could win the Primaries but become king of the world. And he's now surrounded by professional leaches (otherwise known as "campaign consultants) who see a big pay day with this guy. The great unhinged continue to look for their next Raygun...and this dude thinks he's it...

(110,950 posts)He is not a "natural born" citizen. He was born in Canada. Obama was born in Hawaii. They will do their best to convince everyone that they are the same. They are not.

(5,901 posts)Regardless of whether the parents are American citizens. I remember during the 2008 campaign that several pundits opined that John McCain was born on American soil because he was born on an American base in Panama.
But if Cruz was born on Canadian soil and has Canadian citizenship, it could be challenged. It's humorous that Obama was born in the US as a naturally born American citizen. Cruz? Not so much.

(21,677 posts)The Senate is like the jury, they decide the verdict, guilty or innocent. Clinton was impeached by a crazed House, but the Senate didn't find him guilty, so nothing significant happened to Clinton.
