The new-old 'dirty word' of the Tea Party/John Birch Society: "Far Left"

When 12-year-old Madison Kimrey asked NC Gov. Pat McCrory to meet with her to discuss the recently-signed voter suppression legislation, he practically slammed the door in her face. His comments about the matter?

The notion is ridiculous. This is all very liberal groups using children as props to push a very far left agenda,” he said.

This response is an insult to Madison and the young people of North Carolina. Furthermore, this is not leadership. It isn't just "very liberal" groups who believe everyone should have the unfettered right to vote. It's most people, liberal and conservative (except the FAR RIGHT extremists known as the Tea Party).

You can give Governor McCrory a call and tell him young people - all people - in North Carolina deserve better: (919) 814-2000

The only true far left in the US is the Communist Party, and their offshoots that still worship Stalin, Mao and Castro.

Bill O'Reilly is fond of labeling anyone he disagrees with as "far left."

And we know that McCrory realizes his own ass in in trouble since he lied about anti-choice laws.

So the GOP in North Carolina wants to use their time-tested methodology.

Cheat.

2. The John Birchers believe(d) that "communists" were everywhere. The Tea Party still does...

...except they now call them the "far left". Some of them still outright call them Communists. To these loons, everyone and everything that isn't extremely right-wing, dominionist, NRA, KKK, anti-civil rights, anti-woman, anti-government -- is "communist".

Nothing's changed. Just the label.

3. I see the term used on DU. In fact, there was an OP that called the Democratic candidates in NJ

who were defeated by Corey Booker 'the far left' and painted the primary process as if these Democrats were usurping radicals attempting to unseat a legitimate monarch.
Far left, professional left, DU's more conservative members use those Bircher hot button terms casually and often. Just like Billo.

I don't worship Stalin, Mao, or Castro

I guess you are just fond of labeling those who make you look like a RWinger as communist?

And is not calling them cheats putting them in the same bus as the conspiracy to defraud bus?

Hey, don't go getting pissed off because I question you and your words. Try to keep it together and explain yourself with logic, sans too much emotion, if you can.

I expect to be called interesting names on other boards but lately I've been accused of being "extreme left," a "libertarian lefty" and a "Paulbot" all on a so-called "liberal" message board. Weird.

When you are sooooooo far to one side, even the middle looks a million miles away. They should not have told the Governor that Madison was 12 but a likely donor and voter. Then the bum would have ran people over to see her.

...mocked "professional leftists".

The origin of such rhetoric is from decades ago (at least), typically used by John Birchers and others. McCrory and his WRAL "news" outlet use "far left" and other such monikers all the time.

They mean anyone who isn't batshit NUTS and RW extreme like the KKK/NRA/Dominionist/John Bircher contingent now known as the "Tea Party".
