(20,600 posts)Obama is getting close to lame duck status. The American people are war weary, there is no support for another war in some far-off land that they never heard of and don't understand.
Maybe if there was some spectacular attack with weapons of mass destruction used there, then it might be possible. But hopefully nothing like that will happen.

(23,364 posts)Assad is no Saddam Hussein - he comes off too calm and rational. Syria is no threat to the US, and people are sick of wars of choice.
Syria can take care of itself. There's ZERO political gain in going to war for al Qaeda, and that's precisely what Obama would be going.
