Dear Ed Henry: Why Hasn't President Obama 'Spoken Out' on the Christopher Lane Shooting?

A: Because, UNLIKE George Zimmerman, THE ASSHOLES WHO SHOT HIM WERE ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH MURDER, YOU FUCKING ASSWIPE!

Pardon my language, but the occasion calls for it.

This stupid FALSE EQUIVALENCE bullshit cannot be allowed to stand:
President Obama spoke out on the Martin murder BECAUSE JUSTICE WAS NOT DONE.
President Obama did NOT speak out on the Lane murder because Justice WAS done.

It has nothing to do with the race of the victims. It has to do with the administration of justice.

Fox News and the entire right wing noise machine needs to be called on their bullshit IMMEDIATELY.

When this poor man was shot, the first thing everybody thought was "what a senseless, horrible act of violence."

The SECOND thing they probably would have thought was "how did these morons get a gun? Why is there so much gun violence in America, and why do we have such a low regard for human life?"

The Conservative Entertainment Industry, backed by the GUN LOBBY wanted to make sure that WASN'T the second thing anybody thought. Instead they wanted to flood the zone with RACISM to cover the stench of senseless gun violence.

So, they immediately floated the question: "Obama spoke out immediately when a black teenager was senselessly shot by a non-black, but his DIDN'T speak out immediately when a white man was shot by black men. Why is that? Hrm...maybe it's because he's a RACIST! Yeah...that's the ticket."

This stupid narrative has already gotten out of the barn door, but we have to call them on this rampant bullshit before it gets out of the yard.

President Obama spoke out about the Trayvon Martin shooting because an armed man had stalked and then shot an unarmed CHILD/minor....and the police thought that was just fine.

President Obama didn't speak out about the Christopher Lane shooting because the local police DID NOT think that was okay. They did what the Sanford Police SHOULD have done, and arrested the scumbags who shot him, and put them in jail where they belong.

President Obama commented on the Trayvon Martin shooting BECAUSE JUSTICE WAS NOT DONE.

President Obama did not comment on the Christopher Lane shooting because justice WAS done.

End of story, you morons.

Yes, maybe you can get some wiggle room on the fact that Eric Holder is going to look into the Martin murder as a racial hate crime....and no doubt Fox & Friends, Hannity and Limbaugh will be spinning the story for months that Holder is a 'racist' because he's NOT (yet) investigating the Lane murder as a racial hate crime. You know....another catch phrase to toss to the base, along with Benghazi! Fast & Furious! IRS! IMPEACH! IMPEACH! IMPEACH!

Fair enough. Expecting them NOT to do that would be like expecting dogs not to sniff each others' butts. But the least WE can do is call them on their false equivalence bullshit between this case and the Martin case.

Q Last topic. Do you have any reaction to the Christopher Lane case?

MR. EARNEST: I'm not familiar with it, actually.

Q In Oklahoma, this 22-year-old Australian -- 22 or 23, I've seen different reports -- baseball player, came from Australia, was targeted apparently by three African American young men who -- the Australian was out on a jog and these young men apparently told the police they were bored and they thought it would just be fun to kill him. Any reaction to that?

MR. EARNEST: Well, just that this sounds like a pretty tragic case. I wouldn’t want to get ahead of the legal process here. And it's clear that law enforcement officials are involved as they’re investigating.

But these -- any act of violence is something that -- the President, I think, himself has spoken pretty eloquently about violence in our communities, and he stood at this podium a few weeks ago where he talked about his concern about the impact that violence is having on, in particular, young people in this country.

Q Yes, we heard him on Trayvon Martin here and in the Rose Garden. Why hasn't he spoken out on this, in this case? You said there was a judicial proceeding; there was one in the Trayvon Martin case. He spoke out extensively on that one.

MR. EARNEST: Well, I'm not sure that -- there are some people in this room I don’t think who would agree with you that the President spoke out extensively on it. I think that he answered a --

Q It was in the Rose Garden, he spoke on it, got a question.

MR. EARNEST: Yes, and he got asked a question about it.

Q And he didn’t have to answer but he did, and then he came out here himself --

MR. EARNEST: At the conclusion of the legal process and shared some thoughts --

Q Sure, for several minutes.

MR. EARNEST: -- that are, I think -- where he expressed his concerns about the impact of violence in communities all across the country, and he talked about the number of things that the government can do but also a number of things we can do in our communities, whether it's parents, churches and communities can do to try to address the impact of violence, and whether there is more that we can do to try to protect our children.

Yep! Wow Ed Henry is a tool. If anything why can't Henry & these right wing drones just admit straight up they hate black people and want Obama to be responsible for every bad thing a black person does.

those right wing freaks have an OBSESSION with obama's "my son would look like trayvon" statement...

in reality:
- Feb. 26, 2012: Trayvon is killed
- Mar. 7, 2012: The case begins to be mentioned in national media after being only featured in Florida-area media. That morning, Trayvon's parents got an exclusive interview on CBS This Morning.
- Mar. 23, 2012: At the end of a press conference announcing his nomination of Jim Young Kim for World Bank president, Pres. Obama makes his famous "if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon" comments. That would be 16 days after the Trayvon case first got national attention and near a month after Trayvon died.
- Obama would next mention Trayvon on July 14, 2013, the day after Trayvon's killed George Zimmerman is acquitted. In his brief statement Obama said: "...in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken. I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son. And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities."
- Five days later, Obama again makes right wing heads (whatever they're made of) explode with his statement opening a press conference: "You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot I said that this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago."

The Christopher Lane case:
- Aug. 16, 2013: Lane is murdered.
- Aug. 20: The case gains national attention with an AP report anticipating charges to be filed against the suspects. The previous day, the ABC in Lane's native Australia published its first story about the case.
- Aug. 24, 11 days after the murder and 7 days after the case first got in the national scene: Obama issues a statement thru a spokesperson: "As the President has expressed on too many tragic occasions, there is an extra measure of evil in an act of violence that cuts a young life short. The President and First Lady's thoughts and prayers are with Chris Lane's family and friends in these trying times."
- Aug. 25: The day after the statement, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin, a Republican, said in an interview with Fox News' Chris Wallace "it would be a nice gesture" for Obama to make a statement about the Lane case, "especially since the country of Australia has expressed their sentiments."
- Aug. 26: A spokesperson for Gov. Fallin says: “The governor thinks the president did the right thing by reaching out to the Lane family and the people of Australia.”
- Aug. 27: NBC and other outlets report on the Obama statement - albeit in a late fashion.
