They serve as judge, jury and executioners.
They are another group that is above the law in the U.S.
If you are a police officer and break the law your sentence should be triple that of civilians.
If you are a judge and break the law your sentence should be triple that of civilians.
If you are an attorney and break the law your sentence should be triple that of civilians.
If you are a politician and break the law your sentence should be quadruple that of civilians.
Those in charge of writing the laws, enacting the laws and enforcing the laws should pay a stiff penalty when they break the law.
Our prisons are filled with the wrong people.

(2,560 posts)Most could have been handled by ordinary police, and only two or three would have been needed instead of an ENTIRE swat team. Others wouldn't even need a police team, at least at first. Stolen koi? Get the ASPCA in - I believe they also have the power to arrest. Unpasteurized milk? Get the relevant food authorities in. Copyright violations? Lawyers.
But the mentality is really scary. What sort of crime against humanity is "barbering without an active license"? but even scarier is the quote from SWAT team supervisor Niemeyer: 'If a sheriff's department is going in to do a search warrant on a drug bust, they don't call them and ask them to voluntarily surrender their marijuana ... before they show up.
