posted here yesterday concerning Religion and government

And must have used the wrong phrase/term in my question as I got no replies. I am going to try a different tact today.
Do you think America is heading in the direction to become a theocracy? Or do you think the peak of religious fervor in our government has been reached and we are heading back to a more secularist form of government?

On edit i will add my opinion... I think the peak has been reached and we are heading back to a more secularist government.

at least in regards to the people on DU. I do not care the least about any organized religion. Now, if they (religious people) start to try to take away any rights based on their religious beliefs, I stand up for the rights.

What I hear you saying is the people on DU are not concerned with the possibility of our country becoming a theocracy? the recent laws passed in various states regarding abortion clinics appear to me to be taking away the rights of women based on religious beliefs. As do any and all anti-gay legislation.

It does in fact amaze me that the vast group of knowledgeable people on this site appear to be ignoring the power of the fundamentalist religious in our government/elections.
Do not recall the actual person but a quote I refer to on occasion.

"When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross"

than a typical one of mine http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023523877

so I would not sweat a lack of replies.

Then again, many people have me on ignore whereas as a new person here, some people have not learned to hate you - yet.

But often replies are built on not just a title that attracts readers, but also the reputation of the author and also whether some of the first few readers decide to rec your OP.
