Been thinking about some of the worst of the worst, like Idi Amin, and Josef Stalin.
They died peacefully, surrounded by doting family and in luxury.
Some of the worst died badly.
Qaddafi(sp?) was shot.
Hitler shot himself.
How does that apply to the worst here in this country?
George Bush? Dick Cheney? They'll die like Amin and Stalin.
Henry Ford did.
All of the "Gilded Age" robber barons did.
The Enron brass have or will.
Some Christians are willing to believe in "Hell," where the worst will be punished for eternity.
I say "Hell" is bullshit concocted by church rulers to scare the rabble into continuing to fund their lavish life-styles.
Maybe does China have the right idea, when it comes to corruption?
Put the corrupt on trial and then shoot 'em?

(111,124 posts)That's the hell I think a lot of rich men will face on their deathbeds.
Personally, I felt great peace as everything, including pain, started to become irrelevant. I was annoyed when they shot me full of drugs and brought me back. Talk about harshing the ultimate mellow.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:
put the worst on trial and then shoot em? DU is better than this....
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Aug 24, 2013, 10:05 PM, and the Jury voted 1-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: There are days when I just can't take any more of the trollish bs. I think they enjoy trying to make DU look like a bunch of jerks and loonies. Advocating political murder en masse is sick, sick, sick.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Cherry picking does not get a hide from me. Leave. Ohio Joe
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: The death penalty is a viable punishment for some crimes.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Fine line perhaps between advocating violence and rambling philosophically - I'm going to put this one in the latter category.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Same jails we throw pot spokers in.
Bernie Maddow would be first in line.

(23,470 posts)What I have noticed as a hospice nurse is that the poorer a dying person is, the more family around them in there final days.
The wealthier ones tend to have more paid caregivers and less family around.
I know this isn't always the case. It's just a trend that I have noticed in my years as a hospice nurse.
I once saw a billionaire die in a nursing home. Yes, it was a very nice nursing home. But, that clearly didn't have to happen.

Seeing how badly justice plays out in this life, to sooth our irritated senses, we cling to narratives about rectification in the "afterlife", or in a next life, or in some magical way or other...

(8,361 posts)done some pretty shady things. Does that mean all of them deserve a death penalty? No, but they are all on the take so bad and doling out uneven justice that it's not hard to find "dirt" on an official when they need to. Take the guy over the food protection groups who was executed in the wake of the infant formula scandal. I am sure there were many people who should have been investigated, but if this guy wasn't on the inside of political power, it was an easy decision to make an example of him. Heck, he may very well have taken millions of dollars to have the agency look the other way while companies poisoned children for profit.
