Air Force Bans Greek Yogurt With Hemp Seeds Over Anti-Drug Policy Concerns

The Air Force warned personnel over the weekend to steer clear of a specific flavor of Chobani Greek yogurt that includes hemp seeds.

Hemp contains trace amounts of THC, the psychoactive ingredient also found in marijuana, classified alongside heroin and LSD as a Schedule I drug under federal law. The Air Force, as part of its anti-drug policy, added hemp seed oil products and hemp seed to a list of forbidden substances in 1999, over concerns that they could confuse the results of drug tests regularly given to service members.

Chobani's Blueberry Power Flip is the latest victim of that prohibition. The Air Force made clear that yogurt flavors without hemp were still fine to eat.

“The Air Force has not restricted military members from consuming Chobani Greek yogurt; rather, only Chobani yogurt that contains hemp seed or hemp seed oil is prohibited, just as any product which contains or is derived from hemp seed or hemp seed oil is prohibited,” said Capt. Adam Koudelka, the legal adviser for the Air Force Drug Testing Laboratory at the Air Force Medical Operations Agency at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, according to the Air Force Times. ..................(more)

* All 20 amino acids, including the 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) our bodies cannot produce.
* A high protein percentage of the simple proteins that strengthen immunity and fend off toxins.
* Eating hemp seeds in any form could aid, if not heal, people suffering from immune deficiency diseases. This conclusion is supported by the fact that hemp seed has been used to treat nutritional deficiencies brought on by tuberculosis, a severe nutrition blocking disease that causes the body to waste away.3
* Nature’s highest botanical source of essential fatty acid, with more essential fatty acid than flax or any other nut or seed oil.
* A perfect 3:1 ratio of Omega-6 Linoleic Acid and Omega-3 Linolenic Acid – for cardiovascular health and general strengthening of the immune system.
* A superior vegetarian source of protein considered easily digestible.
* A rich source of phytonutrients, the disease-protective element of plants with benefits protecting your immunity, bloodstream, tissues, cells, skin, organs and mitochondria.
* The richest known source of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids.

I buy hemp hearts (shelled seeds) at Costco, and mix them into smoothies and cereal.

I don't know if they show up on a test, but I doubt it and could care less.

From what I hear and read, avoid the omega 6's if you have a choice. 3:1 is not bad and a lot of good things offset the small amount of 6's in hemp. Most processed oils are pretty much all omega 6. Read up on it! Interesting stuff.

He told me while he was serving they wouldn't let him drink Humboldt Hemp Ale for the same reason. At that point we both agreed the "war on drugs" was bullshit.

... a doctor accused me of giving her 'drugs' that she had not prescribed.

It was during the last stay in the hospital before my friend's 90 year old mother passed away.

The doctor said that her pupils/eyes were pinpointed and that her conclusion was it was from opiates and that 'I' must have given them to her.

She had NEVER received any drugs at home other than what came from the pharmacy.

I was very upset. We couldn't figure out what was up.

Then it dawned on me that perhaps it was caused by POPPY SEEDS.

Mary loved poppy seed rolls and also poppy seed dressing on her salads.

So, I called the doctor and suggested to her that perhaps it was the POPPY SEEDS and asked her if that since her body was shutting down if maybe the opitates from the seeds had built up in her body - and she basically laughed at me and said some other things that pissed me off even more.

Anyway, Mary passed away a few weeks later in the hospital (she was 90 years old, had Parkinsons, blood pressure problems, etc.)

It still bothers me to this day that the doctor accused me of wrong doing.

Last year I did a search on Google because I wanted to send that doctor an email to let her know that I was still upset with the situation and in the search results a link came up for the doctor's obituary.
