Say what you will about Starbucks... But

Starbucks CEO: We won't cut benefits because of Obamacare

While other U.S. companies have cut staff or benefits in anticipation of next year's health care overhaul, Howard Schultz said Starbucks (SBUX, Fortune 500)' insurance plans will stay in place -- for everyone.

"It's not about the law. It's about responsibility we have to the people who do work and who represent us," Schultz told CNN on Tuesday.

<snip>

"It may end up costing us more... but I don't think that is the primary issue," Schultz said. "Starbucks does not want to leave people behind."

"I don't believe that...the health care law should be a reason or a motivation to cut benefits for either the employee or spouses," Schultz said. "An investment in your people is an investment in shareholder value."

But I still patronize the place occasionally.

At least they have Shultz's sense of responsibility going for them. Being a barista in a place like that is NOT easy.

on edit: Regarding guns in the stores - whether you see them or not they are there. It's a question of allowing open carry which offends some folks, or requiring concealed carry so that they don't know to be offended.

them at all, unless it gives them greater tax relief. In that case it will be beneficial to them and their employees.

4. I'm not 100% on the fact that the ACA will not effect them at all...

I don't think anyone is 100% of what the actual outcome will be. Where I work, everyone has the opportunity to take part in our health care plans. We spend more money on benefits than we make in profit. We provide the insurance, however we are unsure exactly what all of the implications are. We have consulted insurance lawyers, our network providers, etc... It changes almost daily.
