“Bachmannnistan: Behind the Lines, a Report From the Inside“

The book describes Rep. Bachmann as being “hard as nails, vicious, self-centered, phony, in it for herself.”

According to Salon.com, the book states that Rep. Bachmann, who claims to be a Christian, "fired a staffer with seven children, the eighth on the way, on Christmas Eve.”

Andy Parrish, Rep. Bachmann's former chief of staff, worried about “her reliance on World Net Daily, which he thought just a little too tin foil hat, even for him.”

Many of Rep. Bachmann's campaign workers claimed they never got paid, but the book says the Congresswoman still asked them to sign nondisclosure agreements that “came well after the work was performed, were never an original term or condition of employment and the signing of them the only fast and ready way to be paid, without interest of course.”

3. Says a lot about the voters in her district that they kept electing this one woman clown-car

Did she ever do anything that actually served her constituents?

It seems like her third term was all about her trying to run for the GOP nomination.

But, the North Metro suburbs and exurbs are politically way off to the right. About +6-8 margin for Republicans in that district. However, Bachmann won in 2012 only by about 1%. There's an even chance in 2014 to elect a Democrat, but it's going to have to be a moderate Democrat, which won't please some folks.

Still, I'll take someone who votes with the Democratic Caucus 90% of the time over any Republican. Yup.

I'll be working in that district in 2014, since my own district is secure for our congressional representative, Betty McCollum.

11. The same 50% is unlikely to vote in 2014, either.

I deal in realities, not fantasies. That district will elect a Republican every time, if given a chance. Only if a very weak Republican runs against a moderate Democrat with great name recognition in the area is there any chance of the Democrat to win.

Actual elections are a very different thing than speculative elections. We have history to look at. My own district elects progressives. That is its nature, and the nature of the residents of the district. Even so, we manage to turn out only about 60-70% of registered voters in any given election. And that's only in presidential election years.

MN CD-6 has a thin chance to elect a Democrat in 2014. We're hopeful. The right candidate for that election has not emerged so far, though. Several people are considering it, but nobody who has any chance of winning has committed yet. There's still time.

If the 50% of the electorate that didn't vote last time did turn out in CD-6, a Republican would be a shoe-in. Absolutely.

... on the other hand, a platform including strengthening Social Security, Medicare for All, Living Wage, etc. would get a LOT of them motivated to get their asses to the polls.

But of course we can't allow that, now can we?

13. While it's attractive to think that, it's not real.

If that platform was presented in that district in 2014, the Republican would win by a 20% margin. The turnout would, indeed, increase, but it would increase from more Republican turnout.

Every congressional election is a local election. Without examining the actual district, it is impossible to predict an outcome. Clearly, you do not understand that district at all. Stuff is complex.

The platform you suggest would work great in my district. In fact, that's pretty much the position of the woman we elected to represent us. In the north metro, that platform would bring the right-wingers out in numbers that would overwhelm the election. Knowing the district is crucial. Truly.

Ed Rollins did a masterful job hiding her insanity for a while. Even Rollins was not up to the job of making Bachmann look sane for a long period of time
