Pat Robertson Defends His Warning of Gay AIDS Handshake Rings

The Christian Broadcasting Network, which has alternately apologized or defended Pat Robertson a
lot lately, reportedly edited out a comment by the 700 Club co-host from the archived version of
today's broadcast. The host, responding to a question from a viewer who was concerned about an
HIV-positive church member, claimed on air that gay people in San Francisco use rigged rings to
try and give people AIDS when they shake hands. In a later version of the episode posted to CBN's
website, however, those comments were nowhere to be found.

snip

He says:

There are laws now, I think the homosexual community has put these draconian laws on the books
that prohibit people from discussing this particular affliction, you can tell somebody you had a heart
attack, you can tell them they’ve got high blood pressure, but you can’t tell anybody you’ve got AIDS...
You know what they do in San Francisco, some in the gay community there they want to get people
so if they got the stuff they’ll have a ring, you shake hands, and the ring’s got a little thing where you
cut your finger. Really. It’s that kind of vicious stuff, which would be the equivalent of murder.

snip (A "I was taken out of context" non apology = )

I regret that my remarks had been misunderstood, but this often happens because people do not listen
to the context of remarks which are being said. In no wise were my remarks meant as an indictment of
the homosexual community or, for that fact, to those infected with this dreadful disease.

Not about this stupid "AIDS ring" nonsense, which is simply the latest in a long line of impossibly crazy bullshit to be extruded from Robertson's evil maw.

Should I be worried that the high-five is an anachronistic throwback to the 80s?

as time goes by. The CBN will try and keep him on the air as long as possible for $$$, but I expect that more embarrassingly ridiculous words will be spouting from his mouth soon.

Pat Robertson needs to go sit down and count petals on dailies. Too bad he can't be sued for ignorant remarks towards humans.

He and Trump should start a comedy show; they would sweep the Emmy's. The Big Bung Theory.

his hate speech, decade after decade. He blamed gays and feminists for 9-11 the very next day or the day after. Not a word from 'religious leaders' against his vicious, endless hate. In fact his 700 Club has served as platform for hate preachers who also worked on Obama's 2008 campaign as his surrogate, on 700 Club the surrogate McClurkin called for taking off the gloves and going to war against gay people. DU defended that man. But they affect now that the disagree with all of that, oh my how they 'evolved'.
