and their struggles and MLK. It was about their progress and that of all people, gays, women, minorities, etc, who are ALSO ahead and owe Dr. King for his vision and courage.
Obama said that more can't be done without the kind of effort by MLK and his supporters because he taught them to be brave and how to win peacefully by getting involved in voting, etc., as Dr. King showed by his example. He said if all Americans are to make gains they had to get and stay involved as shown by MLK.
What he didn't say but was clear. The extremely poor of any race, not only blacks, need legislation to protect them from the extremely wealthy and the fight for social as well as economics equality has a long way to go.

(10,044 posts)I thought it would be a tribute to Dr. King, his life, his marches, and his dream speech, and thought it might be okay to miss this one and do some chores. But he spoke to me (like he always does), and his speech was an unexpected treat...am listening to it again as I type...
