CNN guest jokes that Chelsea Manning will get "good practice" at being a woman while in prison

HERMAN: It’s absurd. Sometimes we have to step back and say, “you know, some of these cases we cover, this is beyond insanity.” There’s no way that taxpayers are going to pay a hundred thousand dollars for a gender transformation for this guy while he’s in prison. If he wants to be Chelsea, he can practice all he wants at Fort Leavenworth, because those guys are there for a long time. So he can get good practice and when he gets out, he can have the operation or whatever, and he can pay for it.

At the end of the segment, they then joked about Manning's appearance.

Fox is bad of course....but CNN has really gone down hill over the years and it's getting worse.

I've heard horrors like this frequently on cop shows, and I personally heard a cop issue it as a threat (to someone else): that part of your punishment will be prison rape.

Jimmy Carter was reported recently to have said that, "America does not have a functioning democracy at this point in time."*

But are we even a decent country any more, let alone a democracy?

To tout rape, to promote rape, to brag about rape, to threaten rape, in our hellish prisons!

On an alleged 'news' show, talking about a real person! On TV!

WHAT HAVE WE BECOME? Or, more accurately, what are our corporate rulers trying to convince us that we ARE?

It's like they're smearing shit in our faces.

Chelsea is likely to be raped in prison unless she's kept in isolation...and that's a psychologically harmful thing in its own right, at least for most people. I'm hoping for some form of early release, preferably a pardon.
