His speech was clear, and he laid out the process for making a decision. He said any response would not be open-ended. It will be nothing like Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya, and it will not involve war. No troops.
He did not confirm a limited strike.

(3,111 posts)He disrespected Putin, and he is going to talk to us like we are children? Everything he said was "here are 1 million reasons we are going to bomb Syria, but let us explain it to you like you are children for awhile first."
Ive never been so disappointed by a democrat in my life.

(3,111 posts)He sounds clear and intelligent and I reflected on how anyone could have voted for Bush after listening to the two of them. But the speech was the beginning of preparing the public for strikes. "What if we do nothing? What if we do not respond after we said there was a red line and they crossed the red line? What will the world think of us? Dont you know that if we dont act other countries will start using chemical weapons? We will act alone." I know you heard all that too, It sucks! Its not what I want to hear from the Obama administration.

...believe doing something means strikes, even limited ones. Still, Kerry did say this situation will not be resolved militarily.

But what the fuck, Assad gassed his own people, right? Where have we heard that before? And if Syria stands then other dictators will be embolden. Where have we heard that one before. For christ's sakes they are dragging out every single old argument and lie that has worked in the past.

Especially not on Memorial Day weekend.

(14,128 posts)Kerry, and Obama for that matter.
Don't understand why so many are hating on Kerry or mad that Obama chose Kerry as SOS. Obama knows what he is doing and has chosen Kerry for a reason. There is no reason to second-guess or bash him for that.

(32,139 posts)It's about being a good BLUE TEAM MEMBER and STICKING UP FOR people on our SIDE!
It would be MEAN not to STICK UP FOR HIM! Second guessing is MEAN! All he wants to do is BOMB some people!
It's so MEAN!

SOS Kerry is a fine man for the job and I'm sure it's with a heavy heart and heavy responsibility that they have to make this decision to try and stop assad from bombing his people with chemicals.
