9% on Monday
25% on Wednesday
70% on Friday
And 80% today.
from various news sources.
That's quite a swing in popular opinion, don't'cha think? Which percentage do you belong to?

(9,688 posts)If it's true, it's hopeless -- the 1% has total mind control over the US population.

"Should the US conduct very limited airstrikes in response to 1500 Syrians civilians being gassed?"
Etc.

(55,894 posts)NBC poll: Nearly 80 percent want congressional approval on Syria
KittyWampus
(55,894 posts)Americans say they don't want the U.S. to strike Syria, but that they could support a limited action that did not risk the lives of American soldiers, according to recent polls.
In a new survey from NBC, 50 percent of 700 respondents said the U.S. should not take "military action" in Syria, while 42 percent said the U.S. should.
But opinions changed when participants were asked about airstrikes launched from U.S. ships, without involving ground troops or U.S. planes flying over Syria.
Asked their opinion about a mission "limited to airstrikes using cruise missiles launched from U.S. naval ships that were meant to destroy military units and infrastructure that have been used to carry out chemical attacks," 50 percent said they would support such an action, while 40 percent said they would not.
A full 79 percent, meanwhile, said President Obama should be required to gain approval from Congress for any kind of strike against Syria.

(9,688 posts)A unilateral "punishment bombing" by the US is illegal.
The US has *no* moral authority after what it did in Iraq.
The US President *absolved* the previous admin of war crimes in Iraq, so has *no* moral authority whatsoever.
That's sad news, but it's true.

(9,688 posts)Or do you think that the USA is somehow "special" and has the right to commit war crimes at will, and to police the world unilaterally as judge, jury, and executioner?

(19,877 posts)Russia and China? Otoh, I also believe in a congressional vote and an outcome from the UN inspectors.
delrem
(9,688 posts)Russia and China are a large part of the world. Do you think South American countries want to see another US war of conquest? I doubt they do.
A congressional vote doesn't give the US the right to bomb a country that hasn't attacked the US. That's why the security council matters, and why the US, being a rogue state that attacks countries at will, will avoid it.

i'm honestly happy the american public hasnt yet been disoriented by the shaky cam coverage of syria - that and persistent international pressure are the only things that forced obama to pass the buck to congress

(13,877 posts)and that's a good thing !! War...what's it good for...absolutely nothing !!! It's their war, not ours. There is no case to be made when confronted with reality ... which the US masses got sooner rather than later.
