(35,568 posts)but still, they may be volunteers but they're not slaves (or "dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy" like Kissinger called them). This is where I'll bet there are long conversations going on in every barracks, every messhall- "how lawful are orders to fight against a country that hasn't aggressed ours with no Congressional Approval? And not even UN approval?"
