CBS back on the air with regular programming

I wonder how much money they lost.....I live in L.A. and know of at least 3 families which changed
providers... I was planning on doing this myself this week.. Man this was a bad freaking move on their part...

I'd been hearing all the talk about how TWC would do so because of football, but CBS wouldn't be able to charge advertisers screwed out of viewers because of the pissing match.

NYT: CBS and Time Warner Cable End Contract Dispute

CBS and Time Warner Cable ended their protracted contract dispute Monday evening with the announcement of an agreement that restored CBS and its related channels, like Showtime, to millions of cable subscribers largely in three major cities, New York, Los Angeles and Dallas.

In a memo to the CBS staff, the corporation president, Leslie Moonves, said, “The final agreements with Time Warner Cable deliver to us all the value and terms that we sought in these discussions. We are receiving fair compensation for CBS content and we also have the ability to monetize our content going forward on all the new, developing platforms that are right now transforming the way people watch television.”

Glenn Britt, Time Warner Cable’s chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement: “We’re pleased to be able to restore CBS programming for our customers, and appreciate their patience and loyalty throughout the dispute. As in all of our negotiations, we wanted to hold down costs and retain our ability to deliver a great video experience for our customers. While we certainly didn’t get everything we wanted, ultimately we ended up in a much better place than when we started. "

I can certainly imagine if I did. I watch my cbs shows online the next day. The Good Wife, NCIS & NCIS LA, and Elementary.

I knew about it only from the news.

It is weird how over the years my perceptions of TV have changed with the times.

When I was a kid when Rudolph was on we called they neighbors and they called us to remind us all to watch it.

You saw it once a year or you missed it. Period. We had the big three networks and nothing else really except PBS and early on telecinema and something called qube.

Today, I don't watch anything on the big 3, pretty much haven't for years now (I am sure there is a rare exception like a football game). I haven't intentionally watched the world news programs on them (have seen them when others have it on).

It is not that I hate them or anything like that. It is simply there is so much more than tv out there now and when I am on the TV there is so much other programming to choose from (like Spongebob).

There was a day when one channel missing would be earth shattering to us, now it is just another channel out of hundreds.
