You know what would be a very good result from the Syrian situation?

For the Congress to say no to military intervention and that becoming the precedent that gets us away from these nonsensical intrusions we've become so infamous for. Its time we quit that shit and you've got to start somewhere. Britain showed the way, all we need do is follow.

1. I think if we can get most of the Democrats to vote NO....

Then, there may be 50-75 Repubs that would vote with them. Do the math. We would need about 170 votes in the Democratic caucus to defeat the charge to war, in my estimation.

2. I think the Republicans will be more anti-war than the Democrats.

Could be wrong... there is a lot of opposition to war against Syria on the right. I fear that the left will fail to outperform the right in terms of rallying opposition to the proposed war.

4. The 'congressional resolution' is for a 'use of force' - not a declaration of war. Big difference.

I wish folks would try to use the correct terminology.

We are NOT going to 'war'.

There hasn't been a legal "war" since after Pearl Harbor, but if you ask any person on the street, they know the country's been at war since then. I'm using common sense here.

6. Obama intervened in LIBYA - no one was going around saying that we went to 'war' with Libya.

This is a war authorization, particularly as currently written. I mean, with Kerry talking about Hitler and Munich, I think that it is quite clear enough.

9. It's discouraging that there's willful ignorance about this.

All these arguments based on false equivalencies and incorrect reads of the facts. And no one seems to care about what's actually being SAID, because, oh yeah, you can't trust ANYTHING the government says.

Not a good combination.

Americans stomp their feet and say 'We Don't Want to Go to War Anymore!'

About damn time.
