You understand that bombing Syria may make use of WMDs more likely.

Remember that as a card carrying member of the Mirrorshades Psychopath Dictator Club, Bashar Assad gets cool points with his buddies in places like Iran when he defies and trolls the Ugly Americans.

He's gonna be safe and secure from all the bombing, and his chem weapons will be well hidden. All the US will be doing is sending the high explosive and high casualty equivalent of an Internet flame.

Assad's response: TROLOLOLOLOL!!!! To him, sarin is a good way to troll the Americans, and he'll get his lols by gassing even more toddlers to watch us go apeshit.

lost their limbs and lives? Same song after the world puked at the use of white phosphorous? Yet these crimes weren't prosecutable - apparently they still cross no red line. And, please provide your proof that Assad ordered the gassing of anyone. Kerry didn't have it .... where's yours?

Simply that bombing the shit out of Syria may make him more likely to brandish them and use them.

And it may embolden other mirrorshaded warlords to do the same.

given the manner in which our military madness mindset "cleans up" such "messes" it only makes sense that whacking this particular beehive with a stick will make more mess for us to "have to" clean up thus perpetuating the ongoing (endless) intent of our military minds.

It also gets the dander up in the bible thumping crowd, especially now that they have manged to convince themselves that we are a christian nation and need to carry on with the crusades.

I do agree with your point in the OP though.

is a poor idea.

I fear your analogy is fairly accurate if used to describe the plan to throw a couple of hundred cruise missiles at targets in Syria. Since we have given Al-Assad plenty of warning he will undoubtedly have taken measures to insure that our attack does little harm to his military.

All serious folk know that having his country bombed will make him chastened and sorry and unlikely ever to do anything aggressive, toward anybody, ever again.

Missiles and bombs and military attacks are very calming. Remember how 9/11 calmed down the USA?

TPTB have this methodology down pat... so why would we want to change any of that since it works so well at perpetuating the their security/longevity and significance?
