KERRY: The Abrab Countries Have Offered To Pay For The Entirety (If USA Does The Messy Stuff)

Secretary of State John Kerry said at Wednesday’s hearing that Arab countries have offered to pay for the entirety of unseating President Bashar al-Assad if the United States took the lead militarily.

MORE:

Secretary of State John Kerry said at Wednesday’s hearing that Arab countries have offered to pay for the entirety of unseating President Bashar al-Assad if the United States took the lead militarily.

“With respect to Arab countries offering to bear costs and to assess, the answer is profoundly yes,” Kerry said. “They have. That offer is on the table.”

Asked by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) about how much those countries would contribute, Kerry said they have offered to pay for all of a full invasion.

“In fact, some of them have said that if the United States is prepared to go do the whole thing the way we’ve done it previously in other places, they’ll carry that cost,” Kerry said. “That’s how dedicated they are at this. That’s not in the cards, and nobody’s talking about it, but they’re talking in serious ways about getting this done.

the trillions extra they got for oil thanks to George W. Bush. We provide the lives to ruin, they provide the money. I'm really beginning to miss colonialism.

If the Arab nations want Assad out then they should send in their own damn troops. I am alternately thrilled that the Arab league is coming out so strongly against Assad and disgusted at the same time that they apparently want someone else to actually do the work.

It may be a fact that the Arabs offered this, but Kerry should be ashamed of himself for even hinting that this might be a reason to favor military action.

By 'mentioning' that an offer had been made, Kerry was in fact 'hinting' that it might be a reason to favor military action.

I guess that's why he followed with: "That’s not in the cards, and nobody’s talking about it."

Of course, there is no doubt that had he not disclosed the offer that was made, there would be a dozen OPs screaming, "What is he trying to hide!?!!?!!"

This place has become a fuckin' insane asylum.

That's all I need to hear- I am for this EVEN MORE now that the far left has lost the "we cant afford this" non-argument/strawman.

Putting America to work!

Now, we shouldn't over charge them. Minimum wage would show we are not greedy. And no bennies demanded either.

If we ask for too much they might raise the price of oil.

War is good for the economy!

Hell, if he's pissing them off to the point where they'd pay us to remove him, maybe I'd rather he stayed in power.

Or maybe they're just kidding around and they're not really planning to pick up the tab.

Or maybe SoS Kerry's making shit up.

No matter how I fold it, I still can't see this as a compelling argument to start bombing.
