The U.S. is selective about Never Again

Darfur genocide, anyone? The genocide in the DRC? Both of those went on for years and the U.S. didn't lead the charge to stop it.

So when Kerry or anyone else says we must mean it when we say never again, it's impossible to take it at face value. Kerry called the genocide in Darfur genocide but he didn't advocate military action- not by the U.S. or the U.N..Like the Geneva protocol on the use of chemical weapons, the U.N. convention on genocide requires signatories prevent and punish the crime of genocide.

Never again is a hollow statement. It's happened again and again. When someone says never again what they're really saying is: "not this time and not in this place."
