Listen up DU...TX State Sen. Wendy Davis Wins Lawsuit Against Racist GOP Redistricting Plan by

Earlier today (Wednesday), the three-judge Federal District Court in San Antonio handling the Texas redistricting litigation entered a final judgment in the Texas State Senate redistricting law suit. In its ruling, the Court made clear that Wendy Davis and her fellow plaintiffs in the case won and Greg Abbott, representing the Republican state leadership, lost.
...

Greg Abbott served as the primary legal counsel to the State of Texas during the consideration of redistricting by the Legislature and defended the State’s redistricting plans in federal court. His efforts in redistricting have been nothing short of an embarrassing debacle.

Abbott advised the Legislature to configure and adopt redistricting plans that the federal courts ruled to be in violation of the US Voting Rights Act. Two of the three redistricting plans were ruled to be drawn with discriminatory intent. Abbott has spent millions of dollars in Texas taxpayer funds to unsuccessfully defend redistricting plans that were unfair and illegal. Abbott’s actions go beyond partisanship to illustrate profound incompetence and open hostility to Hispanics, African Americans and other fair-minded Texans.

This along with the Voter ID law Abbott keeps pushing should be enough to put Texas back into the preclearance column it deserves under the VRA.

Abbott is a smug little prick who made sure other Texans who are severely injured, not be able to recover the same damages that he got when he was injured in an accident. This partisan hack needs to get off of the public dole!

Wendy is one. My housemates back home in Dallas are hosting a fundraiser for her this fall, and there will be some serious money in attendance there. Not all gazillionaires in Texas are evil.

Two friends of mine are in full-time, rarely rewarding jobs trying to raise funds for progressive causes in Texas. Matt Angle has been fighting gerrymandering in Texas since before DeLay, and Aimee Boone can be found behind the scenes at just about every Democratic fundraising event in the State. I was at one of them where Jim Carville remarked that when he was asked to speak at an event of Texas Democrats, he though he would be giving his speech in a phone booth. Hardly: full house, baby, with people standing outside the room straining to hear. There are more blue pockets in TX than we are given credit for. Good people like Wendy Davis are only the most visible tip of an iceberg that's bigger than many suspect. Just because it's an uphill struggle doesn't mean we're not still heading uphill.

situation in Arizona. Five/nine Arizona Representatives are Democrats. That was partly because the psycho Governor wasn't able to illegally overturn the non-partisan redistricting plan for the state (most of the time Arizonans pass dumb ass voter initiatives but every now and then they come up with a phenomenally good one - the one that required that the redistricting commission be made up of 2 Republicans, 2 Democrats, and 1 Independent being one of those). Why we can't get rid of Arpaio, though, I do not know (maybe cause no one good runs against him?).

Because, and let me quote, "intimidation and voter fraud are the only reasons Obama was elected."

So, I asked why did Obama lose in Texas? Does that mean there's no "intimidation and voter fraud" there? Why do you need stronger voter id laws? Oooops, no answer.

Also no answer to why the America loving, patriotic state of Texas is always talking about seceding? Don't they love America?

California, who actually voted for secession. Several counties in Northern Colorado are close to the same action.

Citizens and groups from over 30 states, including Texas, have filed petitions seeking secession.

I'm here in Texas and any talk I've heard about secession is met with ridicule, for both Governor Perry and the idea in general.

So if Texas doesn't love America parts of California and Colorado must literally hate America's guts.

I think the same is true in California, but not sure. Here they want the 51st state conservative utopia with Ken Buck as governor and no gun regulations or regulations of any kind, except, of course, on women.

So the difference is, our crazy people still love America, your crazy people don't . Bottom line, they're all crazy.

I have a whole bunch of inlaws in Texas who aren't laughing at secession.

Attorney General Abbott has been looking for voter fraud for a while and has not found any examples of voter impersonation which is the only type of fraud that would be prevented by voter ids. Tell your inlaws that if voter fraud is such a problem then why did Abbott lie when he commented on the DOJ suing on voter id laws http://juanitajean.com/2013/08/23/its-not-like-texas-cant-be-trusted-or-anything/
