MARYVILLE, Mo. A Northwest Missouri State University professor is in custody after making a violent online threat on a social network site Wednesday.
Matthew Rouch, 57, of Maryville, was arrested by campus police Thursday afternoon in reference to an investigative hold of making terrorist threats, said Nodaway County Sheriff Darren White. According to the universitys staff directory, Mr. Rouch is an instructor with the department of communications and mass media.
Mr. Rouch was arrested after he allegedly posted an online statement on Facebook, which came to the universitys attention Sept. 4.
The statement read: "By October, I'll be wanting to get up to the top of the bell tower with a high-powered rifle, with a good scope and probably a gatling gun as well."
