Now you see what you all have made do. You have me sticking up for Obama. Damn.
I originally came to DU during the time Bush started the war with Iraq. You remember. Our country as a whole went insane. People pulling flag poles out of their asses, freedom fries, and bomb bomb bomb Iraq. Seemed like everyone and their mother was for war back then. DU was a great retreat for the few of us that didn't go along with the program.
I voted for Obama and just had to get away from politics at that time. I was not going to vote the second time around, but then I heard a speech by Romney about two weeks before the election. He was all up in NetenYahoos butt and sounded like he could not wait until he was elected so that he could start a war with Iran. Well, I had to vote after hearing that.
I came back to DU a few days ago because I know this Syria business is real serious stuff and there is some intelligent discussion here.
Listen, I know lots of people here seem to think that Obama is some type of war monger, but I don't believe that for a second. If I am not mistaken, Congress gave Obama the authority to arm rebels several months ago, and yet, no arms have been shipped as of yet. Seems to me like Obama has been delibetly dragging his feet on this. Don't sound like a war monger to me.
I do believe that Syria has used chemical weapons on its own people. All conspiracy theories aside, it has been known for many years now that Syria has the largest stock pile of chemical weapons on earth and any sane person would have to ask themselves why Syria never signed the treaty banning chemical weapons. This is not rocket science figuring this one out folks and I think we have our answer to why they never signed the treaty.
I believe that Obama's primary motive for wanting to bomb Syria is indeed the WMD usage. It's the lawyer in him that wants to set things right. It's same reason he wants this to go before Congress.
Now whether this is smart or not is a whole different issue.
