Bloomberg helps de Blasio with his accusation that de Blasio's campaign is racist
and class warfare. Quinn runs from asshole Bloomberg.
This is delicious.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg shook up the race to succeed him by weighing in bluntly on the candidates in Tuesday's primary and the future of the city in an interview published Saturday morning. His remarks put the hopeful he favors on the defensive and handed a potentially helpful talking point to the one he doesn't.
Mr. Bloomberg told New York magazine that he thought Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, the front-runner, was running a campaign that amounted to class warfare and was racist because he had persistently highlighted income inequality and his biracial family. And he said the New York Times was right in editorials that endorsed City Council Speaker Christine Quinn in the Democratic primary and former Rudy Giuliani aide Joe Lhota in the Republican primary.

Mr. de Blasio said he was unsurprised by the mayor's support for Ms. Quinn. "I think we need a real break from the Bloomberg years. I think we need to go in a much more progressive direction," Mr. de Blasio said. "Obviously, I think Speaker Quinn represents continuity with Bloomberg's policies and with the status quo."
Ms. Quinn didn't seem grateful for Mr. Bloomberg's encouraging words for her or his attack on Mr. de Blasio. "I think the mayor's comments are extremely unfortunate," she said. "I totally disagree with them."
