I'm with Grayson and Palin! Let Allah sort 'em out!

Why should *I* care what's happening in Syria? They're brown people, no? The world needs less brown babies.

Maybe Grayson and Palin can run for president in 2016! I'd vote for that ticket. Yes, let Allah sort 'em out!

GO GRAYSON!

[div class="excerpt" style="margin-left:1em; border:1px solid #bfbfbf; border-radius:0.4615em; box-shadow:3px 3px 3px #999999;"]In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally[3][4] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[5] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[6]
While this sense of the word troll and its associated verb trolling are associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels subjective, with trolling also used to describe intentionally provocative actions and harassment outside of an online context. For example, mass media has used troll to describe "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families."[7][8]

It may have been but it was also trolling.

Would be alot better than the anti-war people calling the pro-war people Hitler, and the pro-war people suggesting the anti-war people like me are holocaust appeasers.

I thought we were supposed to be dems and liberals here? The big tent party that is inclusive of everyone and the ideology of openmindedness and tolerance? Some people here sure don't act like it.

It seems like all I see from some posters is hate and intolerance. Ideological purity tests and accusation of betrayinng the party. I like this site and forum but some people seem to go out of their way to do nothing but piss the people who disagree with them off.

I am against the war, poster X is for it. Instead of giving our logic and reasons for our positions and either coming around to the other side or agreeing to disagree it seems like some here just want to play a game of one upmanship with each other. Who can build themselves up at the expense of others.

Let me make things clear. I did not do the alert on the original poster and I am not calling for him to be tombstoned. Im just calling a spade a spade. This was an attempt to troll and a pretty bad one at that.

It's not going to happen unfortunately. The DU community decides via jury what and what is not community standards and it is very difficult to get all of those people to change their minds on what the standards should be.

And you know what the worst part is? The insanity we have seen with the NSA/Snowden/Manning/Assange/Greenwald and the Syria debacles is NOTHING, I MEAN NOTHING, compared to what this place will be like in 2015-2016 if someone with even a shadow of a chance, particularly if that person is a progressive, challenges Hillary for the nomination. If that happens, DU will erupt into a holy hell the likes of which has not ever seen before.

But just because others decide to roll in the mud, that does not mean we have to does it? Im sure both of us have our buttons and will slip here and there but we can disagree with each other with respect can we not? Maybe, if we set an example others will follow it?

I am also certain you are 100% correct on what will happen if a progressive does show up to challenge Hillary. I will probably either hide both names like I did to Snowden or will hide out in a group if that happens.

But no matter how bad it gets now or in the future it is important to remember, no matter what side you support, we are all striving to do what is right and make the world a better place.

At Sat Sep 7, 2013, 10:51 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023620807

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

Although this is an attempt at satire, it is poorly done. It is racist and flame bait. It is offensive and should be hidden.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Sep 7, 2013, 10:59 PM, and the Jury voted 3-3 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT and said: The BOG needs to try to at least remain sane.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Alerter, No. You disagree with poster but that is not a reason to hide the post. The post is not racist, it's not flame bait, and it is not offensive or any of the other hideworthy criteria. The OP is quoting Palin and Grayson is on the same side with Palin on Syria. I happen to agree with Grayson (I wont say I agree with Palin, if she is right, I am sure it's by accident)
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: I have to agree with the alerter

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Continue to pressure the UN while attempting to gather international support.
Provide humanitarian aid where possible.
Go so far as to try to open a channel with Russia in an attempt to convince them that the current situation may not be in their best interests.

A go it alone attack on a sovereign country simply because you do not like their internal conflicts resembles the actions of a rouge state.

For the UN to do something they have to have a 'unanimous' vote.

And China is not going to vote yes either.

With as nuts as this situation is it may be possible to convince the Russians that the situation in Syria is not in their best interest. How long before Assad gets crazy on them? The various rebel hordes haven't been doing all that bad without our help. The prospect of Syria remaining in a years long civil/religious war may not be appealing to the Russians.

As to leveraging the UN it could start something like this.....
We have long supported you. You have counted on us to be first and foremost in you're efforts. If you wish that support to continue, do something. It need not be military. You are the world body, act like it.

Yes when all else fails we will probably need to go over there and bash the hell out of somebody.
To our own detriment.
Do I have to say it.

As our bridges crumble, our children go hungry and our people die for lack of medical care.

Open a channel with Russia - That has been in the works.

I don't agree that humanitarian aid should be dispensed in Syria, that could end up anywhere.
Any workers who might manage to get into Syria would be under threat. I believe humanitarian aid should be delivered to the countries who are sheltering thousands and thousands of Syrian refugees.

Rep. Alan Grayson Cackles That Syrian Atrocities ‘Simply Not Our Problem’

VIDEO here: http://www.mediaite.com/online/rep-alan-grayson-cackles-that-syrian-atrocities-simply-not-our-problem/

The debate over military action in Syria has produced a landfill’s worth of stupidity, from every side of the debate, and every corner of the political media. Rep. Alan Grayson Cackles That Syrian Atrocities ‘Simply Not Our Problem’

Following his excellent interview with Secretary of State John Kerry, host Chris Hayes continued the media’s current pastime of coaxing valueless opinions out of unqualified guests by interviewing Rep. Alan Grayson, who opposes the proposed military intervention in Syria. There are legitimate reasons to oppose the strike, as well as to support it, but Grayson’s performance here was a very extreme example of what has been so wrong with much of the media’s treatment of the Syria debate: a complete lack of seriousness or humility. If you’d like to see an example of seriousness and humility, check out the first half of this Chris Hayes commentary from Wednesday night, then slam your head on your desk.

Sun Sep 8, 2013, 04:22 AM
Sep 2013

-snip-

GRAYSON: What's actually happened is that until this point, in the past couple of years, this has been an internal civil war. It's been the Alawites on one side and the Sunnis on the other side. And it's been to some degree a reasonable expression of the desire of many people to have a modern life and not live under a dictatorship. But in the past several months what's happened is that the backing by other foreign governments of certain rebels, Al-Nusra, has led to a situation where the strongest opposition force in Syria today is in fact another fundamentalist Muslim regime like the one in Iran. So we have a fundamentalist Muslim regime in Iran fighting fundamentalist Muslim Sunnis in a proxy war in Syria. I don't think we have a dog in that fight. I think this is one of those extraordinarily rare occasions when I think I'm in agreement with Sarah Palin. She said, let Allah sort it out.

So, Grayson agreed with Palin and the OPer up above - sarcastically was agreeing with them both.
