Let's get a few thing straight about Syria

Whether or not you support a military strike on Syria, let's stop acting like Republicans and accept facts as they are: facts.

1. Assad is a bloody dictator who is possibly worse that his dad.

2. Yes, the Syrian military gassed their own people.

3. Yes, Syria committed war crimes.

4. No, it was not genocide.

5. No, this is not some plot to facilitate construction of an oil pipeline.

6. No, Miley Cyrus was not sent on stage to distract from Syria.

7. Syrian rebel forces are alleged to have been forcing non-Muslim out of captured territories. There may be no good guy in this fight.

There. Lesson over.

Furthermore, it's CT packed as the core claim of war propaganda that you are disseminating without either thought or criticism. Bumping it from "2 minutes of hate per day" to "5 minutes of hate twice a day" doesn't alter the fact that such war propaganda is evil.

Perhaps the claim will be proven with evidence the world can examine and acknowledge. But at this moment it's purest CT, and the ugliest CT imaginable, being used as an excuse for actual war operations.

Sorry if you don't like my view, but you aren't likely to change it with even more "secret classified" CT.

statements of fact?

I don't necessarily disagree with most of it - but making pronouncements like you're the be all and end all authority is a pretty silly thing to do on a discussion board.

Definition of doublethink: "To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed...." - Orwell.

This is really a proxy war for the ongoing sectarian struggle between Shia and Sunni Muslims (read, Persians and Arabs). Assad's political party is a sectarian Shia offshoot, hence he is backed by Iran, a Shia state. But Shias comprise only 13% of Syria's population, and Sunnis comprise 74%. The rebels are sunnis, They have the backing of Al Qaeda (a Sunni organization(, as well as the major Sunni states (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Emirates, etc.)m who have offered to foot the bill for U.S. military operations. That in itsefl should tell you something. The Arab states are pushing for the U.S. to intervene, not because they njecessarily give a shit about Shyria, per se, but because they see the Syrian conflict as a battleground in the larger Sunni versus Shia (Arab versus Persian) struggle for geopolitical dominance in the region. At its barest outline, this is Saudi Arabia looking for a way to fight Iran without getting its hands dirty. The chemical attack is but a convenient means to play on American sympathies.

1. It's not our fight.

2. Americans are overwhelmingly against it. Really.

3. Many nations have committed war crimes. Some use oppression while some use drones..

4. The UN hasn't completed its report on the use of chemical agents.

5. When they say it's not about oil then its about oil.

6. Perhaps Assad really needs a good twerking.

7. Are we giving arms to rebels that may wind up in the hands or Al Qaida?

But...

From a marketing point of view you don't introduce new products in August.

When it involves the Saudis, it involves oil and/or Jihadists they've sponsored.

Surprise, surprise it involves both.
