Juan Williams shuts down Benghazi hype at Fox News: ‘It’s gone, baby. It’s all in your head’

Fox News political analyst Juan Williams on Sunday told conservative colleagues Karl Rove and Brit Hume that their obsession about a so-called scandal over last year’s terrorist attack in Benghazi was “all in your head, baby.”

During a Fox News Sunday panel segment devoted to the one year anniversary of the Benghazi attack, Fox News media critic Howard Kurtz agreed that there were unanswered questions, but that “there is a drumbeat among conservatives — including some at Fox News — to turn this into a full-fledged scandal as opposed to a horribly tragic episode that killed four Americans.”

“And I do think that some Republicans — I’m not saying all — are trying to use this as a weapon against Hillary Clinton,” he added.

Hume, however, insisted that there were “elements of mendacity in what the administration said and did after this attack.”

Williams pointed out that there was “not one shred of evidence that the White House knew about this beforehand, they covered up anything.”

“To make a scandal out of this, really — you say this is not going away, let me tell you, this is gone away,” William said, turning to Rove.

2. Well there was something there. The CIA.

The scandal the Republicans wanted was something bizarre about Obama not sending help or blaming the anti-Muslim film, or something something not saying terrorism in the speech in the Rose Garden in which he actually did mention terrorism.

Which was weird, because the whole time everyone was dancing around the fact that there was a major CIA Annex in the Benghazi installation, which neither the administration nor the Republicans wanted to talk about.

I wonder if they thought the secrecy re: CIA was something they could leverage by dancing around it very carefully, where the administration couldn't really respond without disclosing the real situation.

In other words, they thought they could allege a cover-up that was a different cover-up than the actual cover-up, because of the cover-up?

3. Thank you. The CIA role there has been obscured by a cloud of Fox bullshit.

I think they were sending weapons to the Syrian rebels. That's the kind of shit the CIA does.

4. Something not being discussed re: Syria.

To what extent are we already training / arming fighters in Syria? For how long has that been going on? What has been the result?

for some reason.

For example, if we're all about Punishment Bombs, what's with the CIA-trained rebel infiltrators? Isn't that more a "regime change" tactic?

And if we want regime change and are backing rebels, why would anyone believe our Punishment Bombs story in the first place?

5. +1. Ambassador Chris Stevens' presence there, along with the CIA station

which ran militias into Syria has always seemed like a no-brainer that Chris Stevens' was facilitating or participating in the covert operations. Plus the fact Benghazi was a holding station for prisoners meant it was always going to be a target for extremists looking to free their buddies.

Furthermore, Fox news' bullshit allowed Petraeus' role in this affair to be covered up. He had to have been in it up to his eyeballs imho.

I doubt we'll ever know the full extent of what happened there. The Republicans probably know that the Admin can't ever disclose the real facts so they have carte blanche to pound the drums of "cover-up" in order to smear the President.

8. So, has everybody forgotten what the G-NO-P did in the first place?
Mon Sep 9, 2013, 04:22 PM
Sep 2013

The G-NO-P controlled House had voted to CUT $300 MILLION FROM OBAMA'S EMBASSY SECURITY REQUEST! A House/Senate conference committee restored less than $100 million. I am the only person who thinks that this also could have contributed to our misfortune at Benghazi?

Issa and his "investigation" outed the names of everyone in Libya who was working with us making an investigation quite difficult.

The comments over at RS are quite funny though. It's like freepers with rabies foaming at the mouth over there.

The emotionally fragile GOPer's were not able to handle reality when it came to the polling data, so they created a fabricated version of polling data to comfort them.

Well, Fox New's is for the emotionally fragile GOPer's who aren't able to to handle reality of any kind.
