but we set ourselves up for the next 9/11. I don't know about you, but I don't want to go through that sad, heartbreaking time again. Some nations don't know what peace even is.

but in the case of Syria, we have tired peace with Assad, and as soon as he felt threatened he went the way of his family in the past. This is not the same as Viet Nam, and it is not the same as Iraq. Giving peace a chance is a novel idea, but it doesn't always work.

I think the song was way more idealistic than just keep America at "peace" and just watch others be attacked with chemical weapons.
