(24,396 posts)or hell, depending on who you ask. Mitt's going to have to choose some hate-spewing "social conservative" to keep the rabid base fired up through November (assuming he wins the nom). Might as well be Santorum.

(11,101 posts)I'm pretty sure the Romney strategy includes getting at least a few women to vote for him. Santorum might not exactly be his first choice in a general election. Then again, I give you Sarah Palin and Dan Quayle.

(1,989 posts)If he's hoping to win. He'll need someone with a bit more personality. That's not icky, though. He'll already get that group in the general election. They'll hold their nose and vote for him. I think he'll pull the south, just because they hate Obama so much.
Plus a few didn't hold their nose and vote for McCain last time around. But, they actually thought he'd win anyway. Surprise, surprise...This time, they'll be more motivated. They still won't like Mitt. But, they'll get to the polls begrudgingly in the general election.
I think Chris Christie would be his best chance to get to the White House. So, I hope that doesn't work out. Trying to pick up a few Hispanic votes by selecting the guy from Florida isn't going to do it.
I think Christie would actually pick up a random democrat or two. And, I find that strange. But, still possible. I have heard there are some democrats that like him. I haven't heard that about icky. Ron Paul just isn't credible. Newt is a nope. Jeb would want to be the top of a ticket...not the #2 spot. At least, that's my opinion.
Barbour...surely they're not that crazy. Mitch Daniels....a yawn, is it over yet, candidate. Jindal....they'd be too afraid someone would expect a speech out of him. If he can't get Christie, I think he's dead in the water.
Obama is on his way to a 2nd term.
