Syrians all know how the USA feels about al Qaeda

Everyone in the regime knows and everyone in the rebellion knows that "Do X or you'll be turning Syria over to al Qaeda," is a powerful argument for us in the USA.

There is propaganda on the internet from all Syrian sides. And some of it even purports to speak for "The People," which in a Civil War is a rather problematic concept.


I was struck by this picture... rather than AQ we are supposed to step to the plate from keeping Syria out of Iran's clutches. (Not for agreement, but for the intricacy of the argument being made to me... an American voter on the internet.)

1. Your civil war, you fight it

God knows how many dozens of ethnic conflicts we could be involved in. I'm sure every one of those combatants wants us to use our airpower to destroy their ethnic enemies.

I'm sorry, Syrian people, this has nothing to do with us. We are not responsible for winning your civil war for you.
