For those who think it's rude, insensitive and over the top... yes, I'm talking to you alerters... O'Bomber is not Freepish or indicative of a stealth white robe. It was BHO's nickname!
And to the juror who said of me: "someone's white sheets are showing," a little education. I'm black. I lived through segregation, through all the time period depicted in The Butler and worked for the NAACP. I have earned the right to call Obama a fraud. You may recall that early in 2008, many veterans of the civil rights era were opposed to BHO's candidacy because he had not been through the 'fight' and they did not feel he had the fight in him to deal with the opposition. And yes, there was a bit of sour grapes that it wasn't his time, he'd not paid his dues. Plus there were legitimate wounds that he had tried to unseat Bobby Rush. Of course, they ultimately rallied behind Obama, but many are quietly quite disappointed and feel they were right... He doesn't have fight in him for things that matter to Americans, though he sure is zealously fighting for this intervention.
Anyway, herewith the origin if the epithet. And even if you don't like Nader, it's an excellent read.
Stopping Barry OBombers Rush to War
Dear President Obama:
Little did your school boy chums in Hawaii, watching you race up and down the basketball court, know how prescient they were when they nicknamed you Barry OBomber.
Little did your fellow Harvard Law Review editors, who elected you to lead that venerable journal, ever imagine that you could be a president who chronically violates the Constitution, federal statutes, international treaties and the separation of power at depths equal to or beyond the George W. Bush regime.
Nor would many of the voters who elected you in 2008 have conceived that your foreign policy would rely so much on brute military force at the expense of systemically waging peace. Certainly, voters who knew your background as a child of third world countries, a community organizer, a scholar of constitutional law and a critic of the Bush/Cheney years, never would have expected you to favor the giant warfare state so pleasing to the military industrial complex....
Thus far, your chief achievement on the Syrian front has been support for your position from al-Qaeda affiliates fighting in Syria, the pro-Israeli government lobby, AIPAC, your chief nemesis in Congress, House Speaker John Boehner, and Dick Cheney. This is quite a gathering and a telling commentary on your ecumenical talents. Assuming the veracity of your declarations regarding the regimes resort to chemical warfare (first introduced into the Middle East by Winston Churchills Royal Air Forces plastering of Iraqi tribesmen in the nineteen twenties), your motley support group is oblivious to the uncontrollable consequences that might stem from bombing Syria. One domestic consequence may be that Speaker Boehner expects to exact concessions from you on domestic issues before Congress in return for giving you such high visibility bipartisan cover...
Sincerely,
Ralph Nader

(6,960 posts)we may still harbor ill feelings because of the 2000 election debacle, his statement about there being no difference between Ds and Rs is sometimes, on some issues, true. Moreover, as a consumer advocate for automobile safety, he did a lot of good.
