On Wednesday, US Secretary of State John Kerry said that some Arab countries have offered to pay the entire cost of the war on Syria.
With respect to Arab countries offering to bear costs and to assist, the answer is profoundly yes, Kerry said in the House of Representatives. They have. That offer is on the table.
In response to questions by US lawmakers about the details of the offer, Kerry said, they have been quite significant. I mean, very significant.
In fact, some of them have said that if the US is prepared to go do the whole thing, the way weve done it previously in other places, theyll carry that cost. Thats how dedicated they are to this, he added.

Just think...
If each cruise missile cost about $1.4 million dollars, then if they were to shoot off about 75 of those babies, then the defense contractor could get a new contract to make more cruise missiles to replace those wasted in Syria. It could be a win/win situation for some folks...

(25,241 posts)"Secretary of State John Kerry said that Arab countries have offered to pay the entire cost of unseating Syria's president if we take the lead militarily. They will pay for the whole thing. See, this is how global politics works. We invade Syria to get money from Saudi Arabia that they got from us for putting their oil in our Japanese cars so we can pay back China all the money we owe them." Jay Leno

(111,079 posts)The MIC would win with new contracts and the warmongers (hawks) would win if Syria were bombed. Everything else is irrelevant.

(2,770 posts)didn't bother to include the rest of Kerry's statement:
"Obviously, that is not in the cards and nobody is talking about it."
Of course, that won't stop the hair-on-fire-brigade from screaming that the Administration is considering such a 'deal' - in fact, they've been posting about it since last Wednesday, when the statement was made.
But for some people, it's never too late to dredge up something that was never considered, and pretend that it was.

(2,770 posts)or anyone else in this Administration, about this "offer" being considered?
Obviously not.

(111,079 posts)That if they were to go thru with the bombing, they would not take the Saudis money? Get real.
Hopefully, they will be able to resolve this without the Saudis money? This will not please everybody.

(2,770 posts)I am stating flat-out that you are ignoring Kerry's statement that this "offer" isn't even being considered, because it doesn't fit with your poutrage.
Kerry's complete statements of September 4th were posted here last week, in their entirety,
by several posters.
You chose to link to an article that omitted his full response on the topic.
More and more, DU is starting to resemble Fox-News - just leave out the bits that don't match your agenda.

And when it's over, we'd get a receptionist's job at his corporation. Just not on the same floor as his office.

(12,041 posts)Saudi Arabia has some truly barbaric laws, they stone people to death, execute people for being gay, their human rights record is absolutely horrible.
Now does anyone honestly believe a country with a human rights record like theirs would get involved with this because they want a humanitarian mission to stand up for the children who were gassed? I sure don't buy it.
If Saudi Arabia wants this war so badly that they are willing to pay for it, I think we deserve a full explanation as to what that motive is. I think most of us have our suspicions, but I want to hear Kerry asked the question.

(111,079 posts)Or an oil pipeline? They are not doing it for humanitarian reasons, we could agree.

(12,041 posts)And I think if Kerry is going to brag to us that they will pay our costs then he owes it to us to tell us why the Saudis are doing this.

(111,079 posts)for the last couple of years. Just a guess, but I would think that the CIA probably trained and armed them?
A guest on Morning Joe this morning said that this was what destabilized Syria in this civil war and has led to many of the deaths? He was sort of laughed down...
