Mitt Romney needs cash

Earlier today, the Romney campaign released this odd video seeking small donor contributions
Mitt Romney did something in his victory speech last night that he hasn't done before: he asked for cash. Apparently, as BuzzFeed puts it, "He's running out of rich people!"
Romney's problem is actually more that the people who donate directly to his campaign can't give more than $2,500. If they could donate unlimited sums, he'd be flush. (And now you know why he favors lifting campaign contribution limits completely.)
But the law limits campaign contributions, so now he's lowered himself to raising from the riffraff. It's not that he's given up on high-dollar eventsaccording to the Wall Street Journal, he's got several million dollar events scheduled for the coming weeksbut thanks to the extended primary, Romney is spending far more money than he had originally planned on spending, so he needs to tap every source at his disposal.
If Romney does manage to start bringing in small-dollar donations, it will be a big change for him: just 10 percent of his haul thus far has come from small donors, compared with 47 percent for President Obama. Romneyland claims they've been starting to see some success in raising from small donors. We'll know whether they are telling the truth in about three weeks, when the next fundraising reports are due.

If enough people became one-centers instead of one-percenters, the administrative expenses could have a serious effect on his campaign.
