Anthony Weiner concedes, flips off reporter

Welcome to irrelevance, you egotistical putz!

Anthony Weiner’s circus of a mayoral campaign came to a thudding halt on Tuesday as Weiner offered his concession speech, dropping out of New York City’s Democratic primary.

With three-fifths of the vote counted, the disgraced ex-congressman had 5 percent and was in fifth place in the crowded race.

“We had the best ideas,” Weiner, who at times seemed to be holding back his emotions, said. “Sadly, I was an imperfect messenger.”

On Tuesday Weiner voted with his young son in tow, and later held an Election Night party at an Irish pub in Manhattan. His wife, Huma Abedin, did not appear with him, and she and their son weren’t mentioned in his concession speech.

(CNN) - Former Sen. John Edwards is looking to open a new law firm this September, a source told CNN’s Chris Cuomo. The firm will be based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and will focus on plaintiff work, the source said. Before entering politics, Edwards was a nationally known attorney who specialized in representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice, personal injury and product liability lawsuits ...

Something like this is really between him and his wife. I wouldn't consider it.

Half of Congress is committing adultly or sexting strangers or beating off to weird porn that would disgust most people, we just don't know about it. Why sweat human nature?

that turned voters against him. As you said, that is a private matter. I think it was that how he went about doing it showed a habit of making bad decisions and having bad judgement. Also, at the same time as Rep. Weiner was in a city magazine playing up the "reformed husband and father" angle, he was sexting people on the side. He said he stopped the behavior, but he had not. In addition, he routinely lost his temper on the campaign trail when questioned or challenged by reporters and voters. Not a good image.

For the record, I have experience in a certain (ahem) "alternative" community, and I have a theory that Weiner and Huma Abedin may be like many couples in that community. One of them has a fetish that the other does not share, and they agree that the fetish can be indulged to a certain point. So long as the agreed-upon boundaries are respected, no problem.

Allow me to point out, however, there are ways Weiner could have had his "play" in almost complete anonymity. Instead, he engaged with women who knew who he was, and in some cases, admired him to some extent. That troubles me a little. It's one thing when a largely private citizen (like an actor) has an ego like that, but it bothers me when it turns up in a politician.
