Thought you knew all about the many tentacles the Koch brothers have around American politics? Politicos Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen have the story of a heretofore unknown pot of cash that they and other deep-pocketed donors spread around in 2012
An Arlington, Va.-based conservative group, whose existence until now was unknown to almost everyone in politics, raised and spent $250 million in 2012 to shape political and policy debate nationwide.

Please take a moment to read those things, too. The Moyers' piece is a treasure itself. As I've said before, these guys are not playing and they are all long-haulers. We have to be, too. Or we'll lose everything.

(21,088 posts)4. It all traces back to the 1971 Powell Memo
This is a logical continuation of the deep corporate retrenchment process that was kicked off by the Powell Memo in 1971. They've had over 40 years of practice at this, they aren't about to quit any time soon.
When I first heard about the Powell Memo almost a decade ago, I knew this was coming.
