This is just one in a long list of moments Obama rarely gets credit for...

Obama didn't do one thing to help overturn DADT - that was entirely congressional Democrats.
Obama didn't do one thing to help overturn DOMA - that was entirely the Supreme Court.
Obama didn't do one thing to end the Iraq War - that was actually Bush, who had the drawdown date already settled before Obama became president.
Obama didn't get bin Laden - that was only after Bush's policies that the U.S. finally achieved its post-9/11 goal. Obama just happened to be there.
Obama didn't do anything with Syria - that was all Putin and Russia.

It's a common pattern and it's sad.

The causation fallacies known as oversimplification and exaggeration occur whenever the series of actual causes for an event are either reduced or multiplied to the point where there is no longer a genuine, causal connection between the alleged causes and the actual effect. In other words, multiple causes are reduced to just one or a few (oversimplification) or a couple of causes are multiplied into many (exaggeration).
