Certainly when he gave us four more years of Bush, he was not clowning around.

...and there was enough hypocrisy and screaming "liar" (especially when Kerry said this was a national security issue) employed by those who oppose the threat of force. I mean, Congress passed a law stating that Syria's chemical weapons were a national security issue, and that was before Assad actually used them.
Many members who voted for tough stance on Syria now oppose military action

(20,226 posts)opinion even that of a contentious leader like Mr. Putin is a positive thing. A President Bush or a President McCain would have stuck to their guns and screw things up really badly instead of recognizing that the were making a big mistake. The willingness of President Obama to recognize that they were wrong has saved the day.

(13,058 posts)war drums I will give him credit. But lets give the Russians credit where credit is due. This tentative agreement could never have been reached without their involvement. Putin's adamant opposition to the use of force and insistence that this agreement does not threaten force went a long way toward pushing us to a way out of this crisis which could potentially save face for all sides. But as Foreign Minister Lavrof said, this is only the beginning of a long and tortuous process.
