Look in the background. More and more pictures of overturned fracking condensate tanks. We're starting to see some aerial pictures showing oil slicks, but there has been not one word in the media. Old mantra revised, I guess -- if it doesn't bleed, it doesn't lead . . .

(55,006 posts)other possibilities - any vehicle is going to produce an oil slick if it is submerged like in a flood. and especially for that shot with the two horses, a lot of ranchers in my area use old in-ground fuel tanks for water storage. That upturned tank might just be something like that.

(15,800 posts)However, Weld County is home to 21,000+ wells, and the landscape is littered with condensate tanks like the one pictured. We have been concerned for some time over the fracking chemicals used, that officials routinely dismiss citizen concerns over water issues related to those chemicals. With only 17 state inspectors, meaning that at best a well will be inspected every six years or so, we have only the word of the drilling companies that their installations are safe. People downstream from us would be well advised to scrutinize their water supplies.

(1,555 posts)I hope you're safe and will remain so as more rain is expected.
The pics from all over have just been horrific and the videos I saw of some of isolated animals just made me cry.
Take care of you - I hope the rest of our CO DUers are safe; stuff can be replaced, you cannot be replaced.

(38,309 posts)Sure, it's just as poisonous, has a "half life" of forever, but it doesn't make a Geiger counter click so it's not so bad.

(38,309 posts)It's a big mess, yep, but it's not among the worse, and it's comparable to plenty of non radioactive "half life forever" crap.

No, I am not "pro nuclear power." I'm a Luddite. I hate all this crap.
Fuck fracked natural gas, fuck coal, fuck nuclear power, and I hate your car as much as I hate my own.

I was in New Orleans after Katrina.
Floods are no fun at all,
but I was delighted at the impromptu fraternity of the local communities in dealing with it all.
After the cheap facade is stripped away, we ARE all in this together.

being upended by the flood?
The flood being caused by fracking.
Sorry to sound so stupid. But I'm not sure what might be going on here and would very much like to understand.
Thanks to anyone who can clue me in.
