Spare a thought for our Mexican neighbors

as GOM Cat2 Hurricane Ingrid is about to inflict about to douse them with 12 inches of rain.

Meanwhile Pacific Ocean Tropical Storm Manuel is hitting them as I type.
Looks like both system will mingle. I don't want to think about the mudslides, rain or flooding. Stay safe folks in Mexico

One met person suggested that this rain will affect Texas, Colorado etc up the line.

But low-lying areas are unsafe, too.

It's a bad place to be right now, any way you look at it.

Last night hubby was wondering how much advanced notice was given to the folks in Colorado. That is some serious devastation. At least you have a Democratic Governor who can now deal with infrastructure for the next few decades.
What's the state of that beautiful new bridge?

because it isn't normal to get 12 inches of rain in less than 24 hours. learned a new term two weeks ago when manitou was waiting to see if it would get hit again--a flood wave. fast-moving wall of raging water, carrying debris, etc., watched the creek rise feet in just minutes.

Fugg the NRA and its ReTHUG goons.
Flood waves are scary and more frequent than we ever anticipated. Across the globe there are these unbelievable heavy showers pelting down in a few hours.

there will likely be a good many deaths from this one. I hope they get the help they need to recover. The aftermath is the worst part of a storm. If any of you see people collecting goods to carry down there, I hope you donate. It doesn't have to be much. They're going to need everything, whether it's clothing or canned goods or toiletries. If everyone donates a little something, it can turn out to be a lot of help.
