So the upshot is that I already knew the committee members were going to announce a lack of support while here on DU, a certain segment of posters was wailing that to oppose Summers amounted to 'abject hatred'.

Especially with the Democratic Party focusing on the GOP's "War on Women", where Summers is a poster boy for such. Throwing his name out there only put the exclamation point on his very public execution. It certainly got Summers out of his bubble-world. It's the Chicago way as they like to say.

Yet DU had already decided who was selected and had declared that the selection had been slam-dunk confirmed.
