to get the job.Seven hours ago he was distancing himself from CitiGroup in order to appear more palatable, today he's announcing he's withdrawing.Someone got on the phone with him and told him he should withdraw gracefully or be prepared to be rejected.

already said NO to his nomination. I would guess that a few more Senators (D) had indicated privately to the WH that they wanted Larry to go away because he was not going to make it out of committee.

I think the Citi thing was a juvenile and desperate attempt by Summers to save his ass and shows to me he does not respect the Senators because he actually thought his cheap trick would work.

He's running the selection process. I'd bet Summers was told it won't be him or was told that he's (Geithner) reconsidered and wants the job.

We are finally beginning to make a difference by moving our Senators, which I would not have counted on in the past.

I'm beginning to feel like they have our backs after all.

Grateful for the opportunity to express our voices. It did seem to go from up to down quickly. Whew.

And if he had been the nominee, I would have been greatly disappointed.

My hair would not have been on fire about it and never had been, but it would have been as bad a nomination as I've seen Obama make. And Obama's worst nominations pale in comparison to what President Romney or President McCain would have done.
