RUSSIAN SHOT IN QUARREL OVER KANT'S PHILOSOPHY

MOSCOW (AP) -- An argument in southern Russia over philosopher Immanuel Kant, the author of "Critique of Pure Reason," devolved into pure mayhem when one debater shot the other.

A police spokeswoman in Rostov-on Don, Viktoria Safarova, said two men in their 20s were discussing Kant as they stood in line to buy beer at a small store on Sunday. The discussion deteriorated into a fistfight and one participant pulled out a small nonlethal pistol and fired repeatedly.

Proving once again that beer and Kant don't mix.

NORWALK - Authorities are investigating a bar fight allegedly involving a Norwalk police officer.

At least you had two people that had read Kant. That is probably a rarity outside of University campuses in the USA. Heck, I have hot even read his "Critique of Pure Reason" yet, only practical reason.

Chess riots have claimed the lives of thousands there and in nearby countries where Russian chess hooligans travel in great numbers to attend international tournaments. The carnage of their now predictable rioting has placed the future of the game in doubt.

(come to think of it, "GOP convention" won't work ... people always get hurt if GOPper's get elected.)

That Kant sure can be controversial!

I recall that Ayn Rand hated him with a passion, too. She thought his philosophy had ruined society.

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable,
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table,
David Hume could out-consume Schopenhauer and Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya 'bout the turning of the wrist,
Socrates himself was permanently pissed...
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, with half a pint of shandy was
particularly ill,
Plato, they say, could stick it away, half a crate of whiskey every day,
Aristotle, Aristotle was a beggar for the bottle,
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart, "I drink therefore I am."
Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed.
